Propyl acetate, also known as “n-propyl acetate” or “propyl acetate”, is naturally found in strawberries, bananas and tomatoes. A product which can be obtained by esterification of acetic acid with 1-propanol has the typical properties of an ester. It is a colorless transparent liquid at room temperature, soluble in ethanol and ether.
1) It has excellent dissolving ability for various synthetic resins and is an effective solvent for many synthetic resins such as ethyl cellulose, nitrocellulose, styrene and methacrylate resins.
2) Mainly used in organic synthesis, is used as a solvent for coatings, printing inks, etc.
3) Dehydrating agents.
